Since the 1st Day of the lockdown Arnold Janssen Kalinga Foundation / Kalinga Center along with our homeless volunteers, have been cooking, packing and distributing food everyday. Beginning with preparing food for 250 pax to 1,100 last December 2020, Fr. Flavie realized that rest and recreation matters. So after 6 months of cooking everyday, we agreed that Sunday and Monday will be days for rest and formation.
But since it’s Easter Sunday, it’s a SPECIAL EXCEPTION!
Just as the Risen Christ conquered death and brought LIFE, we in Arnold Janssen Kalinga Center decided to make an exception. To treat and cook 650 packs (our usual number of beneficiaries since the ECQ), a special dish for our dear homeless and hungry –
Chicken Kare-Kare!
One of our homeless volunteer staff commented, “nabuhay si Kristo, dapat maging tulay din tayo ng buhay sa ating mga kapwa homeless.” Cooking, packing and distributing the dignified food packs they themselves prepare for their fellow homeless is part of the Formation they are going through in Arnold Janssen Kalinga Center.
They have embraced the dictum:
Kinalinga sila sa “Kalinga” kaya mangangalinga din sila sa kapwa ng may galak!
Every contribution counts.
Every grain of rice brings life.
Every gift is appreciated.
Every person is sacred!
